Project description: map-ch (“mothers action project for child health”)—is a 12-month group randomized controlled trial designed to decrease the risk of early childhood caries and other nutrition-related disease, among immigrant south asian (sa) toddler and preschool (tp) children aged 12-72 mThe project is directed by drAlison karasz at albert einstein college of medicineWe are seeking a casual study coordinator who will be responsible for supporting overall project workThis includes: helping to develop the map-ch curriculum and related educational materials, conducting literature reviews and background research; developing annotated bibliographies; helping with the organization and analysis of research data; conducting qualitative interviews, conducting quantitative/ survey interviews, entering and cleaning quantitative data, coding qualitative interview data; assisting in writing and editing research reports, articles and other writing projects; preparation of materials for meetings and conferences and other study materials; other administrative tasks as neededPotential for co-authorship on reports and scientific publications.
Specific responsibilities:
Work with principal investigator and project director to develop educational curriculum and related materials
Refine and finalize research protocols, draft study questionnaires and data collection tools;
Assist investigators in writing, preparing and submitting grant applications;
Coordinate data safety oversight under supervision of pi and pd
Coordinates between collaborating organizations and/or other research and/or educational institutions.
Oversee adherence to research protocols in obtaining informed consent, data collection and management and participant confidentiality;
Provide regular data reports to investigator;
Recruit, maintain and develop relationships with community partner recruitment sites
Support aspects of project implementation, including budgetary, personnel, and data management.
Performs other duties as assigned by the project investigators.
Qualifications: qualifications:
Ba/bs in a social science (anthropology, sociology, psychology, public health) or health field required;
Fluency in bengali required; hindi or urdu is a plus
Excellent academic record; excellent writing, research, analysis, communication, organizational skills a must
Ability to work independently and multi-task required
Flexibility is essential.
The ideal candidate has the ability to work in both collaborative and self-directed situations.
Skills/ abilities/ competencies required:
Knowledge of standard data analysis packages (e.gSpss, nvivo) is desirable
Empirical research skills, as demonstrated by prior research projects or employment experience
Social justice perspective and understanding of fundamental concepts of health disparities
Experience with ms office, word, excel, dropbox and outlook is necessary.
