The delivery manager role is a full-time position within actalent’s servicesActalent executes engineering and design services across many industriesThe delivery manager will lead actalent’s engineering and design teams for protection and control engineering in the electrical utilities industryThis position will require day-to-day oversight of assigned areas of responsibility as well as close collaboration with the senior manager to establish and execute the strategic vision for client engagements.
The delivery manager will be responsible for meeting strategic objectives including growth, customer satisfaction, and program kpisThey will provide leadership and direction to program managers, individual contributors, and their teams to ensure that all projects meet cost, quality, and timing metricsThis role is central to maintaining and growing relationships with key customer stakeholders and for providing overall governance for engagements.
Success in this role requires proven engineering services acumen to deliver business solutions that improve productivity and lower overall engagement costsIn addition, strong technical, organizational, communication, leadership, and client relationship skills are a must.
Ability to travel 35% or more of the time required.
Role can be remote/flexible; new albany, oh location preferred.
Compensation range: $150-180k dependent on experience plus potential for performance bonus.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Primary responsibility to develop and manage the overall plan for the functional area in our engagements including a strategic roadmap for the group, project management, resource management, performance management, competency development and customer management
Oversee teams, program managers, project managers and/ or technical managers and their teams and ensure that all projects meet their defined objectives
Support governance for engagements by scheduling and leading periodic business reviews with aligned customer management and providing timely reports and updates to management
Build and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels of the organization
Coordinate meetings with customer technical stakeholders to facilitate workflow development, scope development, issue resolution, work forecasting, and planning
Build and maintain active communication with customer and other related teams to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and effectively lead change efforts
Coordinate with finance team to ensure that all billing and invoicing activities are completed in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy
Direct the quality management activities of the engagement to ensure that consistent quality methods and systems are deployed and executed throughout the engagement
Maintain, monitor, and manage program budgets; plan, control and allocate resources required to meet program requirements
Develop and implement employee performance and development plans to meet individual development and growth, and overall program goals; includes primary responsibility for talent management including overall hiring and termination decisions
Develop and support business development activities to grow each engagement, including creating and presenting capabilities and solutions, proposal development, contract management and supporting general sales activities as needed
Coordinate with peer delivery manager(s) in implementation of processes and procedures to ensure consistency
Support business development efforts that expand client base and diversify workload
Education and experience requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (abet); advanced degree(s) are a plus
Pe licensure, or will obtain pe licensure within six months of hire required
10+ years of experience supporting large engagements in engineering services or related fields
10+ years of experience in the electric utilities industry with supporting the engineering and design of station and protection and control projects
10+ years of experience with microsoft office (word, excel, outlook, and access)
Minimum of five years of experience in people management experience including training, development, mentorship, and day-to-day responsibility of technical teams
Requisite abilities and skills
Demonstrated understanding of protection engineering tools and software, including aspen, mathcad, ge ur, sel acselerator and 5010
Understands the electric utilities marketplace and competition
Ability to manage and report on project metrics and profitability analysis
Ability to work independently and be self-driven with attention to detail
Demonstrates interpersonal savvy and the ability to build professional relationships and communicate effectively with clients and team members from a variety of backgroundsCan successfully maneuver through complex political situations
Demonstrates client focus: dedicated to exceeding expectations and requirements of internal and external clients
Demonstrated ability to lead and support initiatives that improve processes
Experience and demonstrated success working with external clients to develop and implement technical and business solutions
Demonstrated leadership skills managing large teams of diverse skill sets
Ability to develop leadership skills in the management team they supervise
Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrate ability to provide clear direction for individuals and for the program
High level of personal character and integrity; demonstrating trustworthiness, ethics, and values
Clearly understands the value of supporting and managing diversity in the workplace
Team player with ability to work in a highly cross-functional and virtual environment
