Senior scientist, microbial bioinformatics

Our location in columbus oh (can be a remote role), currently has an opportunity for a senior scientist, microbial bioinformatics.

What you’ll do
Primary job function
Leverage knowledge of biology and computer science skills to support development, evaluation and validation of methods and platforms to support next generation sequencing applications
Collaborate with key stakeholders, (e.g r&d microbiology, global it) to determine and meet microbial dna analysis needs related to food safety microbiology
Core job responsibilities
Carries out applied research in microbial genomics and conducts data analyses as part of individual and/or team projects related to ngs data applicationsDirects independent daily activities utilizing multiple data analysis techniques and incorporates appropriate procedures and quality controls
Leverages understanding of computer science and biology to address systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms to support data analysis; translates business needs into technical solutions
Liaise with global information technology, asset management, and software quality on behalf of project stakeholdersSupports planning of resource allocation and distribution
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Incorporates cross-functional feedback and communicates project needs or results accurately and effectively
Accountability
Strategy: implements research and development plans with understanding of resources, budget, facility, quality and regulatory requirementsAssures activities are consistent with project critical path and quality system.
Quality of work: consistent demonstration of innovation and scientific integrityResponsible for documentation accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results.
Work performance: successfully summarizes data and analyzes results; formulates meaningful conclusions and reviews progress with supervisor.
Education and experience, you’ll bring
Required
Minimum b.sIn a biology-related scientific field with 2+ years of relevant experienceAdvanced degree preferred
Preferred:
Demonstrated success using cloud computing (aws, azure), cloud architecture and application management, linux
Experience with ngs data analyses and/or microbial genomics required
Molecular biology or microbiology background preferred
